Regulated Oil Pumps

Regulated oil pumps are as well called variable flow oil pumps or just variable oil pumps. These pumps are mainly used in engines with a higher flow requirement.

Types:

  • variable flow oil pump - internal regulated type
  • variable flow oil pump - vane type
  • variable flow oil pump - spur gear type

Advantages

A regulation (limiting) of the flow at low speeds and high speeds result in:

  • reduction of mechanical power consumption
  • CO2 reduction
  • depending on customer demands different pressure curves can be achieved resulting in even lower fuel consumption

Application

Regulated oil pump systems (variable oil pump systems) are mainly used as lubrication pumps for engines. The power saving potential of such systems will increase by increasing delivery demands from the customer. Therefore such pump systems are favoured by the customers with higher displacement engines.
